Konami’s Strike Arena – Great Idea, Troubling Issues

Strike Arena Short Review

Konami’s new Strike Arena mode in eFootball™ is a bold and exciting concept. A 3v3 event with dramatic comebacks and unique mechanics like pass multipliers offers a fresh take on the game. It’s a welcome addition that shows potential, and I genuinely hope Konami invests in fleshing it out further—though with Konami’s track record, who knows if they’ll actually commit to that?

The Good: The idea of 3v3 team-based play is fantastic. The pass-multiplier system, which increases goal value with every pass, encourages teamwork and adds a strategic layer. It’s refreshing to see a mode that rewards thoughtful, coordinated play. The unique stage design also contributes to an atmosphere of unpredictability, keeping matches dynamic and exciting.

The Frustrating: However, the experience is marred by serious issues that undermine the fun. For starters, the servers are packed, yet matchmaking inexplicably takes forever. Once you finally get into a game, the frustration doesn’t end—because sadly, this mode is shining a spotlight on just how unprepared many players are for a more tactical, team-oriented format.

A large portion of the player base doesn’t seem to grasp basic principles: no positioning, no defending (probably because they’re used to AI doing it for them), no quick reactions, and—most infuriatingly—no passing! The fact that passing increases the value of goals seems lost on many players, who prefer to hog the ball and take reckless shots instead of playing as a team.

Gameplay Woes: Gameplay mechanics also leave much to be desired. The tackle button feels borderline useless, with manual tackling seemingly replaced by fully automated "match-up" mechanics. Players often take unnecessary touches, delay passes, or execute random skill moves at the worst moments. Combined with hyperaggressive pressing and unresponsive inputs, the result is chaos—especially if you’re not lucky enough to be teamed up with competent players.

Verdict: Strike Arena could have been a breath of fresh air, but right now, it’s an uneven experience. With so many fundamental gameplay issues and a player base struggling to adapt to the demands of teamwork, matches often devolve into frustration instead of fun. If Konami addresses the server issues, tweaks the mechanics, and somehow incentivizes smarter play, this mode has the potential to shine. Until then, it’s a mixed bag—great in concept but lacking in execution.

FIFA, the organization behind world football, has joined forces with Konami, the popular video game company, to create a new eSports event: the FIFAe World Cup free-to-play eFootball tournament. This partnership is a big move to bring football to more people in gaming and real life.

What’s the Tournament About?

The tournament is already underway! Players must pass three qualifying rounds against Dream Team to move forward. Gamers from 18 countries can take part, but Russia isn’t included.

The main event will happen later in 2024. FIFA says this tournament is a great way to spread the love of football across the world. Konami also shared their excitement, saying they’re grateful for the chance to bring eFootball to even more fans. HOW TO INSTALL WINDOWS STORE VERSION

1. Unzip the contents of the archive to any location.

2. Now you have 3 folders, cpk, pak and PesConsole.

3. Rename 3 files in pak folder

pc7000_console_win.ucas to pc7000_console_wgd.ucas

pc7000_console_win.utoc to pc7000_console_wgd.utoc

4. Repeat the procedure in PesConsole/Content/Paks folder.

How to Install

Turf and Lut's addon. BETA version made for eFootball 2025 PC by Endo. The mod includes some minor changes to the game color palette, a new main turf texture has been added, and many other improvements to the game graphics.

Ryan McBride Brandywell (Brandywell Stadium) Stadium, the home ground of the professional football club Derry City F.C., was created for eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2021 and PES 2020 PC games by stadium maker Ianscott42 (Scotto).

Until September 2018, the stadium was known as the Brandywell Stadium before it was renamed to honour Ryan McBride.

Notes:

1. The ground sits in a city with 2 names (Derry/Londonderry)

2. The ground plays host to two different clubs (Derry City and Institute FC)

3. The ground's 2 clubs play in different leagues (SSE Airtricity League and NIFL Premiership)...
